Mr Francis Carbonaro
Francis Carbonaro graduated from the University of Malta Medical School in 1999. After a couple of years in General Practice he moved to the UK in 2003; where he gained all his post-graduate Ophthalmology training. After 1.5 years in Glasgow he moved to London where he carried out the rest of his training and was awarded his FRCOphth in 2012. He has been on the Specialist Register for Ophthalmology in the UK since this same year.
He was also awarded a PhD from Kings’ College, University of London, for his research on Glaucoma in 2010. The title of his Doctoral Thesis is “Genetic Epidemiology of Glaucoma Endophenotypes: A Twin study”.
Mr Carbonaro worked in some of the top Hospitals in London, including Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital, Kings College Hospital and sub-specialty Fellowship Training in Glaucoma at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
He has 14 peer review publications and has presented at over 25 UK National and International meetings and is still actively involved in research in Malta. He has been awarded several prizes for his research in the UK.
